In February 2026, I ran a ‘Spatial Audio in Ableton’ event at the Royal College of Art. I put together a bespoke training, focussing on informing and upskilling the trainers and tech staff at RCA so they can better support student’s spatial sound design sessions.

Working in the Battersea campus spatial audio / mo-cap suite and break-out studios, the 2 day training looked something like…

• History of spatial audio formats.
• Setting up Ableton Live for multichannel and spatial audio projects.
• Max for Live / OSC – Control Options.
• Use of L-Acoustics L-ISA studio for sound design.
• Practical sound design sessions.
• Transferring / scaling projects between spaces.

The team were brilliant – super engaged throughout, and they approached the sound design challenge with gusto! We had some wonderful and varied artistic pieces to listen to, which provided a great foundation for discussion.
